  1. Education: Coaches, parents, and athletes should understand the risks of overuse and recognize early symptoms. 
  2. Proper Technique: Teaching correct throwing mechanics and body positioning reduces joint strain. 
  3. Monitor Training Volume: Follow age-specific guidelines for pitch counts and practice duration. 
  4. Rest and Recovery: Implement scheduled rest periods during the season and off-season. 
  5. Cross-Training: Encourage participation in multiple sports to reduce repetitive stress on the same joints. 
  6. Strength and Flexibility Training: Balanced conditioning protects joints and enhances performance. 

Long-Term Outlook

With early diagnosis and proper management, most young athletes recover fully and return to their sport. However, delayed treatment or severe OCD can lead to chronic pain, limited range of motion, or early-onset arthritis.
